Hi, we have 16 mixed hens of various ages, which have gone off the lay about two months ago when we restricted them to their run, and not the garden. Could anyone shed any light on why they have done this as they get plenty of food and water, they seem to be in good heallth, but we are only getting 2-3 eggs a day. Any advice would be appreciated

I am not an expert but I have read many threads here from people who say that their hens are not laying well at the moment.  There seems to be something in the air
It may be the restriction in  their range or the hot weather?
I 'm sure that someone with more experience will be along to advise you.

Hens seem to go off the lay with any change to their environment, but two months does seem like a long time to settle into their new routine.  Do they all seem settled - no bullying or feather-pecking?

As BN has said, in the warm weather do they have plenty of shady places to rest in the heat of the day?  And is their water in the shade so it stays cool?

(I am very envious of all this talk of warm weather.    It's icy cold where I am and I have to stop typing to rub my hands and stop them freezing to the keyboard!  :blink:)
