Have noticed today mange tout has produced pods, some of them around 2 inches in length. Any advice on optimum size to pick?

I go for 2 1/2" to 3", so not far to go!

The smaller the better I think. You should check them tomorrow as once the pods form they grow very quickly.

The thing with mange tout is -  the more you pick the more you get, then when it looks like you won't get any more they can get going again!!

When picked small they are best 'cooked' by just putting them in a jug and pouring boiling water over them. Leave them for a minute. Sweet and crunchy - delish!
