cauliflowers how to cover them

i have some caulis doing quite well the middles about 3 inches across and is now uncovered.whats best to do to keep the leaves over the cauli.any tips :)

If you can see the curds, they won't get much bigger before they blow.

Harvest them soon!

Normal practice to stop them spoiling in the sun is to bend a couple of large leaves over the curd
I used to work in a helium gas factory, but I walked out, no one talks to me like that.

my wife says its not big enough,ooh that did'nt sound right :lol:she wants to cover it i want to pick it,we may well squash it in the fight :D

It may not be 'big enough' but they won't get any bigger..........mine were the same  ::)

If you leave them, all that will happen is that the heads get more open and then flower. Too late then to eat them  :nowink:

so this is my 1st time growing caulis this season....am i right in thinking all i will get is 3inches? All that work nursing the seedlings planting them out covering them up feeding them and all for 3 inches  :ohmy: Good job ive got about 30 planted out ...might have enough for a Sunday dinner when all the family come round  ::) ....thats if they dont blow

The size will vary according to soil, water, temperature, etc. Caulis are not the easiest thing to grow, but if conditions are right, you'll get bigger ones than 3"

tooo many seeds - as advised - and not just by me, harvest the thing soon, or you'll have nothing at all. I don't like to take sides, but if you listen to your OH, it'll end in tears!
