I've removed the blackened leaves and it doesn't seem to be getting any worse in it's new position so touch wood it will be a bit happier now!

Just an update the bay tree seems to have settled nicely in it's new position. I removed the majority of the blackened leaves and it definitely seems happier in a less windy place. Can see new growth on it coming through as well. Not giving it too much water as don't want to upset it again but touch wood it looks like it's going to be okay! Thanks for all the advice.  :)

Great news.  Once they get going they are hard to stop.  Keep an eye out for scale insects, they're the only other problem I've had with bay.
Cheese makes everything better.

That's good news :) They're quite resilient.

If you're in a cold part of the country you might need to wrap the top part in fleece for the winter, and perhaps put some bubble wrap round the pot to stop the roots freezing.

If you decide to feed it it's best to stop in about August, to slow it down and give new growth time to harden off properly for the winter.
