potato question

silly question, but i planted my potatos in 3 rows,first early,seconds and main crop but cant remember which way round.. will first earlys be the bigger/faster growing the seconds with main crop smaller/slower growing?? meant to label them but never got round to it.

The earlies will develop more quickly. :) We have three varieties growing in rows in a bed together this year and, apart from signposts telling you where one ends and the next starts, you can tell by looking at the plants. :)

What variety are they? A vigorous main crop with big tops may be larger than an early variety with small tops, which some are.

Some varieties are very distinctive. There are photos and descriptions on the variety database of the Potato Council.

The earlies should flower first. Some varieties do not flower.
