To Pot on or leave Tomato as is..?
« on: May 04, 2011, 08:23 »
Yer its corny I know but the buzz from getting some seeds to germinate into a small plant
then potting on the once to get to this stage I was wondering if its necc to pot on a further stage to a bigger growing root area for the plant or from your experiences can you just leave well alone and GH it for a week or two then Glass cloche it prior to planting out/or GH depending on the weather.

Alicante Tomato 3 inch pot

Cheers

Gazza

PSSSSSST    er indoors said leave it alone, but I read about potting on to a bigger
pot to give the root system strength before it gets planted....so I thought Id ask you folks.

That's a good size pot for your plant. Let the roots fill it then plant straight out.

It looks fine for the moment.   Those pots don't have a hole in the bottom so you can check if the roots have reached the bottom.  Mine are at that stage too and they generally get potted on once more before their final positions but it just depends how pushed for time we get as to whether they get to a bigger pot  :)
