Canadian Wonder?
« on: May 03, 2011, 10:31 »
I am growing these to dry and keep for use in chilli con carne and am wondering providing I dry them adequately how long will the seeds last? This is a new crop to me and I have never stored seeds for cooking like I will be doing with these so I am going to plant loads of these to guarantee having enough throughout the year but if they won't keep for more than a year then maybe I should do less? I will also hopefully be planting some of the stored seeds next season!

I am mainly needing to know about storage so that I can gauge a bit better next season how many plants I will need based on this years crops. I hope that makes sense?

Many thanks

Unless you are really really sure that they are really really dry  ::) don't store them in jars, cos they go mouldy!
Paper bags are as good as anything for packing and store in a cupboard that is dry.
