Help please!
 i need some cheap effective 'roses' for our school watering cans.  They need ideally to adjust between different cans and be durable.  Has anyone got a good one they'd recommend??

Wilko watering cans (with roses) are cheaper than buying just the rose so it might be as well to invest in some new ones

I get fed up with trying to fit roses to cans after the dog chewed all mine

Don't know the brand but I have one in green with a brass-look oval fine-rain rose with a rubbery "tube" which widens out toward the end to accomodate different watering can spouts. "Cheap and durable" don't always go together and I've had this one for ages. Wilko's cans with rose are great but the rose is quite coarse - depends what you want it for - would be too rough for seedlings.

One of my watering cans has a very fine rose and I find it extremely tedious to use (life's too short!) 

Another one is a Wilco's jobby (about £6 I think) and yes the water does come out a bit smartish (I just tell the seedlings to stand up again PDQ and be thankful they're not dying of thirst!)

I use a 1mm drill in a dremmel type rotary tool and drill the plastic caps of pop bottles.
Just right for watering small seedlings without washing them away.
Cheap too !

I have always found that the rubber type roses with brass strainers are easy to de-gunk if filling from water butts.

Got my 3 new can roses: for about £7:  2 sorts , and they seem good - having let a couple of the school children do a test on them!  Now to see if they stand up to a summer's watering at school!
