Too late?
« on: April 27, 2011, 23:34 »
Hello - I went away for the Easter weekend and came back to find that my conservatory had obviously turned into an oven while I was away - my beautiful little tomato seedlings had been toasted, fried and then baked!! Is it too late to start again from seed? I'm loathe to shell out for a plant as I have so many seeds left!

Get some more done...mine germinated within a week in this lovely weather  ;)

You could always buy a small plant strip too?  They will start selling cheap as chips very soon

Hi,

No i dont think it's too late.  I only put my tomato seeds in 2 weeks ago and they ready to pot up into their separate pots now.  Warm weather will speed germination and they will soon catch up.

Start again, i dont think its too late.  if anything, with the warm weather we have had recently, mine have grown too much, too quick, and i am WILLING them to slow down as its too early to plant them out and i am running out of space in my greenhouse for all my babies! :(.

I always hear people say "they will catch up", and never believe them, but its true.....i have tried to stagger my sweetcorn this year and those that went in 4 weeks after the first batch are all the same size and bursting out of their pots too. ???

I just started some last week too.  Last year I started a couple of varieties in May and still got crops from them (a little later than the other plants but it meant successional crops)
