My rhubarb is in its 2nd growing year. I haven't taken any rhubarb off it as I have read to leave until the 3rd year. My question is that it now seems to be going to seed,(if that is the right terminology). Is that normal for it?

I would take this out, as all the plant energy will be going to the seed head and you really want this to go to the plant.

My Rhubarb is in its 2nd year as well and it also tried to produce a seed head, i took this out and the plant has taken off and growing great now.

Ok I have chopped them off. Next question can I put the stalks on the compost?

Every single clump of rhubarb on the allotments our way has rushed to run to seed this year.  Even the old boys have remarked on it.
