Raspberry looking a bit yellow!
« on: April 19, 2011, 22:29 »
One of my Raspberries is looking very yellow leaved...the others in the row are just fine - what could be a potential problem? Lack of nutrients?

Something attacking the roots? Cat/dog wee? A pocket of something nasty in the soil?
If the others are ok keep an eye and if it spreads it's probably viral or fungal and you'll have to dig up and burn. (Worst case scenario)
Can you do a picture to show the row AND a close-up of the affected plant? Then the wise ones on the site will be able to give you their advice...

Sometimes a particular spot didn't get as much 'food' as the rest of the row, so it could need a feeding of compost tea, or a small handful of chicken manure pellets and watered in.

People forget that raspberries are hungry feeders and can quickly deplete soil nutrition, so yearly feedings are necessary to keep plants in top shape and avoid most pests which prefer sickly plants.

You could also have a small dig around the problem plants to see if any root pests are in residence.
