Scorched strawbs
« on: April 15, 2011, 09:15 »
Why would the leaves of one strawberry scorch when one next to it looks perfect?
They are in the same size pots, same compost, same amount of water.

Ive had two that were out of my coldframe scorch next to each other and some in my coldframe.  And what do i do with them now?  Is it worth planting them or do i just chuck them?

Wind scorch perhaps or drop of water on a leaf sun burn?  Seems a bit drastic to chuck them when the growing season has only just started - a few new leaves later and all will be well again I should imagine.

Mmm I agree, so early in the season they still have a lot of leaves to grow!  Plant them all, I'm pretty sure they will be fine!  I've got some alpine strawbs, some I had in the greenhouse which definitely died when I didn't look after them properly, and I had some in a huge hanging basket which also died off for the same reason.

however, this year once it started to rain, I had little plants growing in the basket, so they are all now in a huge plant pot and have little flowers on them!
