social Pecking?
« on: April 15, 2011, 14:33 »
I have had a look here just now to see if there was anything about beak pecking.  I have a little brown ex bat that is quite a bossy boots and certainly runs with the rest of the mixed flock quite happily. there are 2 cockerels in the run with them, and the welsummer is boss.  Little brown bat follows him round like a love slave, and when he is still she pecks at his beak and he loves it. She does both sides, then proceeds to do the same to any other hen in the vicinity. Has anyone seen this behaviour before?  I find it fascinating
