Another Pea Q
« on: April 10, 2011, 21:23 »
Last year i saved a lot of my early onward peas , i also bought some this year from a good supplier as i thought i would not have enough of my own.
I sowed half my bought in ones tonight and then thought i would change to my own saved from last yr.
When i started sowing my peas i noticed straight away that my stock was about twice the size of the ones i bought in! i didnt notice this until today when sowed them.

Can anyone explain why there would be a difference? and also does that difference make any difference in the final result?

Cheers MW
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

cross pollination comes immediately to my mind.
I know it is crinkled variety. if you havent dried it properly and you still have some moisture in saved seeds might make them look big.

but if DD is awake he will certainly have a snap!  :)

you have wait for the pea gods.

I agree, its just more moisture in the seeds...and possibly fresher too
