i just watched "how its made" on sky, and they were showing how they mass incubate and hatch eggs. they also had 100's chicks on a coveyer belt and women were sexing them by looking at the wing feathers, the wings that had two rows of feather one row shorter than the other were females, feathers all the same length are males, is this a way of sexing all chicks, or just the breed they were using

oh, what a shame, just had 3 brahmas hatched, thought i was gonna be able to tell their sex, well gutted now lol

As far as I'm aware, it was in a strain of white Leghorns that wing feather growth as a sexing aid was first discovered. The Americans have a preference for white eggs so use the Leghorn.
