Girls gone all broody
« on: April 07, 2011, 14:00 »
2 of my girls have suddenly gone broody and decided to lay there eggs under the conifer cuttings up the corner of the garden  they then sit there on the egg for ages until I remove it.  How long dose this normally last?  I don't think its red mite as they are quite happy to go into the roost at night.

When mine go properly broody, they don't lay eggs but do sit on somebody else's.  Mine usually last 3 weeks but I know some will sit fast for much longer.  It then takes about the same length of time again recovering.  Best to try and stop it by moving them as often as you can and don't let them get comfy.  Thre are other methods of breaking the broodyness but I think it's still too cold to try them.  :D
