hi there got an egg breaker in coup. any ideas as to why and best way to solve problems. all other hens ok accept for one. thanks .

If the egg breaker isn't actually eating the eggs, the breakage is down to the bird laying thin shelled eggs. Get some oyster shell for your birds to eat.

And if she is eating the eggs, its only because its free food!  that's what I keep trying to tell my OH when he says we've got an egg breaker in the flock.  

So like Bodger says, more oyster shell, although that doesn't always work when your birds are getting old like most of ours.  Doesn't matter what I give them, they still lay a lot of thin shelled eggs!  But they don't always eat them

I'd agree  with the above posts.  Probably one hen laying thin shelled eggs.  

But if that is not the case there are numbers of ways recommended to stop an egg breaker (most of which don't work  :roll: )  IMHO the only sure way to stop them is a roll away nestbox.

You need to try and catch the egg breaker and seperate her because an egg breaker is only a few pecks away from being an egg eater. Egg eating is an aquired habit and before long you could have quite a few of them at it.

if ya get an egg eater fil a half shell with yolk smoked  chilli  powder  great marinade as well
