Speedwell

Does anybody have a good plan to get rid of it.   I have it covering some of my flowerbeds, and I have been lightly hand-forking it out, complete with its horrid trailing roots.  If it gets left laying on the soil will it re-root ?  and secondly can anyone come up with a plan ?   Thanks, regards,  Mrs Bouquet

I take it you're referring to the groundcover variety. Here's some info for you, and yes, roots left on the surface will re-root.

Ah - the dreaded speedwell. I have it too. I see little seedlings in March and think - now - are they from my Hellebores or not - no they aren't. I pull it out by the root and, if amongst plants, follow it down and yank it right out. We have had tremendous rain here in the last week so all the little seedlings will have grown and probably flowered - drat.  :tongue2:
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.
