At the beginning of the week we had two chickens with possible mycoplasma, one of whom was rattling very loudly when she breathed.  Our vet gave them both antibiotics and within two days they were pretty much back to normal.  Before the visit to the vet Miss Marple (the rattling one) was horribly subdued and clearly very ill - this morning she's trashing the run and making a racket as usual.  Fingers crossed for Sylvia.

Thanks bantam and ktc.  Sylvia has never looked down or depressed so I'm hoping her prognosis isn't as poor as the vet seems to think.  But I know chickens are very good at hiding their illness so I won't take it at face value when she says "I'm fine!"

I've kept her inside for the last couple of nights for observation, and to make it easier to get the pills down her beak.  She seems alert, eats and poos well, and when I let her out with the other girls she's just as active and dominant as ever.  All good signs I think.
