Thats what I thought, to be honest I wouldn't know how to go about candling the eggs anyway,I'd probably do more harm than good.

I think I have another hen going broody, she's staying on her egg for a long time after laying.Plus I've noticed that her breast feathers appear to have fallen out or she's plucked them exactly like the broody hen I have sitting on eggs at the moment. They are both speckaldys so maybe shes following suit.

This morning we are the proud owners of three little Brahma chicks. we bought a small incubator as a back up just in case the broody did a runner, when it became obvious she was going to stay on the eggs we bought some more eggs and they have been in the incubator twelve days.

Three of the eggs proved fertile and are doing very well, we have well and truly got the breeding bug(nobody told me it would be addictive). Thanks to everyone for their help and advice.
