Hatching Service
« on: March 13, 2011, 08:55 »
Hello folks

(Forgive me John for it has been sometime since I last posted)

Our hen stocks have flourished and we now have six ladies in the back garden all laying.  However, my daugther wants a couple more for her birthday this year, which is over the Easter weekend.

I am having trouble sourcing day old chicks (white plumage variety - Leghorn etc...) I can get eggs, but don't want to go to the expense of buying an incubator. So I had the idea that perhaps someone out there offered a hatching service.  Does anyone know of such a person?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Happy chicks sell day old chicks and do delivery, but depending on how far away you are they might only be willing to deliver two weeks old chicks because they'll be off heat in the van =)
I'm getting four, two weeks old chicks next week including a cream legbar from them.
4 Dogs: Stanley, Oscar, Borris and Scraps, 8 chickens: Prada, Mulberry, Alessi, Apple, Dior, Bobbi, Eve and Fendi, 2 Guinea Pigs: Rupert and Milo, 3 Rabbits: Louis, Daisy and Charlie 2 Fish: Sandy and Pebbles, 6 Quail

Please remember though that buying and selling on here whether for live birds, hatching eggs or services is strictly forbidden and this applies to posts on the forum or through the pm system. People caught may have their membership removed. Everything on here should be given freely or swapped. We do provide the classified adds (which are free to individual members) for payment transactions  :)

Our postal service is one of the few in the world that refuses to accept day old chicks for delivery. Personally I can accept that, because our postal service is no longer fit for purpose but it's quite common to post day old chicks in the US. Is there a difference between sending hatching eggs by post and sending day old chicks by post?
