« on: March 05, 2011, 22:35 »
Hello everybody, just a quick question, one of my three girls Mary started laying on Thursday and up till now is so every day and im chuffed to bits to be honest. I thought one of my neighbour's was playing tricks on me when i saw this lovely egg. Question is can you eat the first egg that your girl has laid, is their any reason why not? Also before this i clean all their mess up every day and ive never seen any practice runs from her. Hope you will be able to help me on this matter ta andy.

The first egg is absolutely fine to eat!  Sometimes when a hen first starts laying she might lay a few odd-looking eggs until she gets the hang of it, but they are perfectly fine to eat.

Congratulations to you and Mary.  :)

helllo Maninvan,

I would totally agree with Lindeggs here.  The only question you need to ask yourself is how you are going to cook it.   :)

My personal favourite is scrambled on toast with crispy bacon  ::)

Good Luck!
