OK - another question.

The soil on my plot is of the "OMG I cant believe who sticky this is" variety. Its obviously very rich but I do worry about it drying out when the sun shines (yes, I'm an optimist).

What in particular should I look to add to it? I'm thinking it probably needs lots of "brown" compost ie. cardboard and paper. Would this work or am I barking up the wrong tree?

any sort of compost, manure or bags soil conditioner or leafmould will help. But it all takes time..........just add as much as you can as often as you can.

To make good compost you need green and browns, either on their own won't work very well

Also working the soil does improve it's condition, allowing in more air, again over time.

I think most plots are 'OMG sticky' at the mo though, so much rain this spring :blink:
