More advice please
« on: February 20, 2011, 08:07 »
My traumatised hen made it through the night but she's not showing any sign of improvement.  She's been checked over, definitely no wounds.  Is there anything we can give her / do for her?  OH has given her water via a syringe.

One of the guinea fowl has a wound on her back which we've cleaned up and treated with wound powder.

Thankfully, the rest seem OK.

Unfortunately shock can kill birds very easily.

I would keep her some where warm, dark and draught free for a coupld of days.  Being in the dark will decrease her chance of laying, which is a stressor, so if you have any straight wheat I would only feed that for a couple of days too.

Be prepared though - she might not make it :(
