   have a small 'boxed' bed which last year grew some runner beans up the side of the garden fence is there another vegetable i can plant inbetween.......tried beetroot last year with little but tasty success, looking for another vegetable to try, please help

Hi Lynn, is the bed in full, partial or no sun? This could have some bearing on answers. Without this information though, I would suggest perhaps carrots or little gem lettuce for starters.

Have a search for "Square Foot Gardening".  Depends on the size of the bed but you might be able to grow more than you think.

You could get some lettuces round the very edge of the bed. A squash, small variety like Sweet Mama etc would grow well at the base, as would a courgette. You could get a few marigolds in there or a medium height sunflower or two as well
