Now you've got your letter reply ASAP to the council indicating you'd like to meet them/ contest the complaint etc.

I agree with all the above points re responding in writing and sending it Special Delivery - make a note of the tracking number and you can check online who signed for it.

Try to work with the landowner and the other cockerel keepers as the council is a body elected by residents which includes you as well as the grumpies.

What restrictions were on the land re livestock before it was divided up into allotments - different restrictions apply to farmland.

Be willing to discuss compromise if this will make it easier for you to manage reducing your numbers.

Good luck.

Good luck with this. Why can't people live and let live, they would get used to the noise and be able to sleep through it if they gave it a chance.

I have had complaints from one house re my cockerel which is 3 fields away from it! and any other properties.

How do these people cope with the dawn chorus which is mega decibels?????
Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted!!

The guy along the road from me had a letter from the council regarding his cockerel,i dont know what he did but he still has his cockerel,so there must be a way to keep your boys.

I have three cockerals, one was a hen untill it started crowing  i have spoken to all of my immediate neighbours and none of them mind, they all see it as part of living in a village.

Last weekend,i went to buy another 4 hens,we are now up to 11 birds, whilst i was ther we saw some white hens and we were going to buy a pair untill they started their noise, they were worse than cockerels.

im probably going to have one cockerel for the table and depending on how it works out i may reduce that to only having one.

i know all about troubles members are having with complaints about their cockerels crowing, there is 1 person who lives near me who seems to have nothing better to do than complain to council about them, had a person from council out on a number of occasions and said no problems with them but as long as they have 1 complaint they have to act.i would say to anyone who had complaints don't act to quick to get rid of birds still got mine.
