Water Nipples
« on: February 10, 2011, 17:55 »
Has anyone used a water bottle with nipple for their chickens similar to the the ones used by rabbits?  I know they are available in the states, and wondered if they would be better for my girls.  Rather than buy them, I bought some extra large rabbit ones x 2 to try.  I have had them in the pen for the past week, so far I have to say 2 of the girls have tried them and keep returning to them.  Only problem so far I have found is they freeze easily so I put around bubble wrap on cold nights.  Any one else tried them??

My neighbour has tried them in the past but could never find one that doesnt develop a leak. But if you are using it out side and not in the hen house that wouldnt be a problem.

I use normal giant rabbit bottles, and yes they do drip a little but  not as messy as a drinker :)

all my chooks have them and are fine :)  they soon learn too :)
I love Pekins, Polands and Seramas :) and eggs!!!
