Sundown Red
« on: January 24, 2011, 19:20 »
Hi just a quick question regarding floor covering for chooks. Ive heard several times lately that there is a new wood shaving around think its called sundown red but apparently it contains traces of eucalyptus oil. Although i think its used for horses ive been told its good for using on chooks. It makes cleaning out much easier as the coop smells sweet. I know its all dust extracted and contains bits of straw. Ive always used wood shavings but has anyone had any experience with this with hens.

I saw the sundown stuff last year at the pig and poultry show. They also do a gold or yellow version which is very similar to hemcore. Their stuff seems quite popular  :).
Staffies are softer than you think.

Thank you for your reply, does that mean it would be safe to use on my chooks. You never know may even prevent snuffs and sniffles.
