Courgette plants looking poorly
« on: September 12, 2019, 17:51 »
HI all,

They are going quite yellow and or white and production has really slowed. Should I have fed them or have they just done their bit for the year??

Thanks inadvance

It's the end of their time, we've had some relatively cold nights lately (for the time of year) so they just give up.
Pick anything that's of edible size. then put the plants on the compost heap.

Just to put an alternative view... Think it depends on why its looking poorly.. My Trombocino courgettes were only really getting going when we had a frost on 7th September- it affected lots of the leaves and I was in two minds whether to just clear it or not. I gave it a chance to revive a bit as not all leaves were affected and since then its producing loads of ‘snakes’. Almost at glut stage now!

It is probably the end of their time but why not give them a feed with tomato fertilizer and see if you can eek out a few more courgettes. Nothing to lose  :D
