Tequilla Christmas Cake (It's got eggs in)
« on: November 25, 2010, 12:01 »
Hoping Joyful will let this stay on. (Please! :D )  It's had me in tucks all morning.

Once again this year, I've had requests for my Tequila Christmas Cake recipe so here goes:

Please keep in your files as I am beginning to get tired of typing this up every year!

1 cup sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup water
1 tsp. salt
1 cup brown sugar
Lemon juice
4 large eggs
Nuts
1 bottle tequila
2 cups dried fruit

Sample the tequila to check quality.

Take a large bowl; check the tequila again to be sure it is of the highest quality...Repeat.

Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl.

Add 1 teaspoon of sugar. Beat again.
At this point, it is best to make sure the tequila is still OK.
Try another cup just in case.
Turn off the mixerer thingy.Break 2 eggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit.

Pick the fruit up off the floor.
Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers, just pry it loose with a drewscriver.

Sample the tequila to test for tonsisticity. Next, sift 2 cups of salt, or something.Check the tequila. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.

Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find.Greash the oven.Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over.

Don't forget to beat off the turner. Finally, throw the bowl through the window.

Finish the tequila and wipe the counter with the cat.

Cherry Mistmas!

Brilliant

I have a similar recipe for coq au vin, although to be honest it's more a case of drinking wine and eating chicken nuggets.

Many thanks flowerpot136 such a useful set of instructions....

Mrs L was not going to make a Christmas cake this year and I had been given a bottle of tequila gold (that I have never tried before and didn't really know what to do with) so this will kill 2 birds with one bottle.

You don't mention how the cake might be decorated?

Suggestions would be welcomed please and.... would an electric oven be suitable as I'm not sure I could get it in the little gas oven (which temperatre please).

Many thanks,
Learner........ always looking to learn something new!!  ;)

I think a suitable decoration would be a cast off stiletto or a random party blower thing.

The last time we had a tequila drinking session (I mean, a cooking session) it was for a mate's 40th.  One of the party goers was found the next morning by her hubbie naked on her sofa, cuddling a blow up football (she found it on the way home and took it home for the kids but couldn't remember this) wearing only a stick on moustache and a sombrero at a jaunty angle.

Dangerous stuff tequila!

Tequilla Gold?  Frozen margaritas .....  brings back memories of New Orleans before the hurricane ....  wonderful and mad place.  8) 8)   Maybe you want to keep it for the summer  .. but margaritas ..
