Just to let you know that after 23days!!! 3 of the 4 new hens decided to put their beaks out of the coop and investigate the big wide world.  I tried everything members suggested but between the 2 sets of hens it was just a 'stand-off'
Hopefully in the next few days all 4 will will venture out and mix 

Whilst writing, please could you let me know whether there should be some water in their coop overnight,or do chickens just perch and sleep?

Goodness that is a very long time to stay inside...

You really don't need any food or water in the house for your birds over night. the will be fine. Of course I don't know how you are set up for your hens but I can only assume you were feeding your new girls inside. If you keep all the food and water outside they will have to come out for sustenance.
