Just a quick thanks to all the kind comments and help , as I said at the start I know nothing about growing anything, but in the last 3 months I have "made" an allotment , sown various things that I got from my local garden centre ( with a lot of help from them as well ! ) and this morning I went down the garden to find my garlic has gone mad and I have a very good showing of shoots from my shallots and other onions ( sorry cant remember what they are called ) So I actually feel like I have achieved something! Again many thanks to you all, just waiting to be able to put some spuds in, can anyone advise when I can do that please? I have read so many books my mind is now totally confused ! Another fantastic plus the neighbour has just had his 70 ft trees chopped down so I am now in day / sunlight all day

You can buy seed potatoes in places like Wilkinsons and garden centres from a few weeks after Christmas. They are chitted to encourage sprouting and planted from the middle of march on, depending on your location.
