I am looking to plant a new apple tree this autumn and am very partial to Gala.  I understand that Royal Gala is a different apple to Gala and I am leaning towards the Royal one being sweeter from general experience of the supermarket ones.  Does anyone have any direct experience of growing the two together or just any helpful comments about either or both?  Hope to place order in next 2 -3 weeks.
