Where do you get Comfrey from?
« on: September 24, 2010, 09:24 »
Hi

Would anybody know where I get Comfrey (Bocking 14) from.

I would like to grow it for Comfrey tea.

Many thanks
Cabbage Patch.

The Organic Gardening Catalogue sells the Bocking 14's. I think they are in a pack of five. They are an improved non-invasive strain and are marvellous for your comfrey tea  :)

I got mine from the Organic Catalogue lot. They were just some snips, not really "well rooted cuttings" or whatever they advertised them as.  However, they are tough as old boots and I mollycoddled them a bit (potted up individually and put them in poly bags, like I would do for cuttings) and they romped away.

Spring is the time they sell them I think.

Ask around on your allotment site - once they are established they are almost indestructable and people will often give you some cuttings. I got two lots like this just last year.
