I bought 10 light sussex chicks from market. Initially when they where cramped together they looked same age size. As i have had them a few days i now think different broods and ages have been put together to make up a lot.

The runt has been badly pecked drawing blood. This seems to have cleared up and healed over. However tonight when checking on them the little un would not come out of nest box when the others where in larger hen hut eating and drinking . I think they are pecking her when she tries to eat drink. Thinking of seperating her in the same run during day and feeding her seperately till she can look after her self.

Any other thoughts help would be appreciated. She looks well otherwise
NOT ARF !

I would separate her - once they draw blood they won't leave her alone - the colour sets them off. Purple spray can help too.

Sorry what is purple spray

It's an antiseptic spray similar to gentian violet.  The purple colour camouflages any blooming area too.  I get mine from the horse feed and supplies store.
