HI Everyone, hope you have all had a good summer . I have enjoyed the garden  very much but for one problem, we were late planting  out some sweetpeas  but they did grow eventually and grow and grow  but we have had the grand total of one flower ! and that was pathetic . the leaves are lovely and there are loads of them but no flowers. I have read somewhere that feeding the plants is the wrong thing to do ,and ofcourse i feed them because of planting them late i thought it would help them to flower before the autumn, I wondered if there is anything i could do to help the situation. We grew sweet peas for the first time this year and had quite good results. Having brought them on in March which I felt was too early, the darker flowered varieties came along first going through to white which only flowered a couple of weeks ago here and that's too late. It might have been something to do with the colours you planted, but I'm sure someone more experienced at sweet peas will set you right.

If you had lots of leaves and no flowers, sounds like you had an excess of nitrogen. They need feeding with potash like tomatoes and roses for best flowers. Mine were in very late but eventually flowered quite well.
