Earwigs in cabbages
« on: September 18, 2010, 09:11 »
I have never had problems with earwigs before other than them occasionally hanging around my sweetcorn in the past.
This year, I grew a new (for me, anyway) cabbage variety called Hispi and was somewhat perturbed to see that the earwigs had munched their way into virtually all of them so that they were unappetising plants to eat whereas, thankfully, all the other cabbages close by were untouched by them.
Is this a particular problem with the Hispi variety, for some odd reason, or am I just unlucky?

If I can grow things in Shetland, then you can certainly grow things where you are!

I've grown Hispi for the last 2 years and not had a problem with earwigs. To be honest I haven't seen an earwig for years thankfully. Bet I will be plague with them after saying that
