soggy leeks
« on: September 10, 2010, 09:40 »
Hi all,I have a problem with my leeks in that they are going soggy in the centre (the green part).I think it might be aphids but can't really see them, does anyone else know what might cause this?they are Musselborough(if that's how you spell it!)

Hello Flump. I see quite a few people have looked at your post, but I guess the fact that no-one has answered means we're just as flummoxed as you.

I've Googled for "leek moth". Have a look for leek moth in Google images and see if any of the pictures match the kind of damage you've got.

How's the drainage in your plot? Have you had this problem before? Sounds to me that the "growing centre" has been affected by something. Try digging one up and look at the roots and stem to see if anything's there.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.
