A neighbour is felling pine trees. The tree surgeons are piling up tonnes of chip mixed with a lot of pine needle pieces, basically all the branches chipped.

It smells fantastic, just shifted about 3 tonnes onto a friends trailer.

I wouldn't use it to mulch anything other than my blueberries, but i have a lot of new paths to cover.

Any pros or cons to consider?

Any comments would be gratefully recieved.

I can't think of any reason not to put these on a pathway, but if they are very fresh they may be harmful to some plants, so I would keep them back from borders etc.

I would put down some sort of underlay first or it will become a muddy soggy mess after a heavy downpour.

I think a wood chip path would be great but it needs to be put down thickly so that it will still look good when walked on a few times.  Photos when it's done would be nice.
