 My runner beans have grown well but a fair number of them have been attacked.   It looks like the actual bean has been eaten from the inside out.   The pods only have the holes where the beans have been, so has something infected it during the pollination stage or has an egg been introduced at some early stage?


Some help please as to what has happened and how to prevent it.

I have a vague hunch that someone might have asked that question here before but after a brief search I frustratingly can't find it.

What I'm vaguely remembering is reference to something getting into the newly developing bean / flower at pollination.

But I can't remember the details, hopefully someone else will pick up the baton
