This is the first year I've grown "halloween" pumpkins.  Mine are green and stripey at the moment, do they go orangey when they ripen or has something gone wrong?  Please don't tell me something's gone wrong as they are the only crop thats doing well!    :roll:

My pumpkins haven`t even considered flowering yet,yours sound fine,they don`t go orange until they`re ripening and there`s a lot of growing time left.

from what ive read on the subject they seem fine mine are no bigger than a tangerine at present so you have now made me really enbvious

they do go orange as they ripen, mine are about the size of a melon at the mo, so fingers crossed, typical that they're doing well; they're the only thing growing that isn't to be eaten  :roll:    mind you they're so big now that come Halloween they'll probably be rotten

Thank for your replies.  Thats what I wanted to hear!    After blight and soft rot and general death problems in other crops  :cry:    its great to have something doing well.  I have a few large fruit but they just look like blown up marrows at the moment!
Like you say purplebat they'll probably rot or get eaten before october but at the moment I'm proud!

you can sit the fruit slightly off the ground to avoid rotting,I use bits of old broken flower pots,curve upwards so the water runs off.
