I have tried to germinate cherry seeds for the last two years and not been successful.
I have sown them in pots in the greenhouse. I also tried leaving them in the fridge for a week and then sowed them. These were stones from cherries from Turkey.
Does anyone know the secret of getting them to grow?
Is it worth the effort?
I bought a cherry tree a few years ago and have not had any edible cherries from it as yet, though it produced lots of blossom and small fruits. There are no pollinators nearby, though.

i just put them in a seed tray covered with compost and left out all winter  7 out of 15 germinated then grew unfortunately when i potted on i potted them in a holeless pot so whenwe had ia lot of rain and i forgot about them ,when i remembered they had died {i was mad} will try agian this year though

Do you think cherries grown in Turkey will survive in our climate, anyway?..I'm not so sure
Secondly if they do grow they will take ages to reach fruiting size and will grow into big trees. Bought trees will have been grafted onto a dwarfing rootstock, unless you are buying orchard trees, and so will fruit much earlier
