oh sorry!! i didn't realize i was   i just wanted to know when to harvest my beloved acorn squash

Did you try using the search facility?  There have been quite a few posts asking the same thing in recent days and weeks.

Gently press the skin with a fingernail.  If it resists firmly, use a knife or scissors to cut the stem.  Then leave it in a warm dry place, eg a windowsill or greenhouse bench for at least a week before cooking it.

which acorn squash have you grown? I have Thelma Sanders and wait for the colour to change.

thanks  i'm not sure what type it is as i got in from waitrose

You can harvest them at anytime.  I'd just throw them on the compost heap now.

Perhaps you have guessed I hate squash
