cleaning land
« on: August 23, 2010, 23:27 »
ive got the opportunity to take over 5 acres of land, some of it was used for chickens, turkeys, phesants etc, is there a way of disinfecting the ground/runs incase anything nasty gets passed on to my chickens or is this unlikely?
thanks

It's unlikely, or, more realistically. not a problem to worry about.  Yes, there could be parasites there from the old poultry, but with such a large area of land there must be lots of wildlife which will be the main reservoir for infections and infestations. No point in trying to disinfect; it will only remove beneficial bacteria or parasite devouring creatures.
