Branching of the (courgette) bush
« on: August 16, 2010, 21:18 »
I grow bush varieties of courgettes, and for the last three years have tended to get one or at the most two 'growing heads' on each plant. This year all of my plants have developed three growing heads, which has resulted in increased yields. I consider to be 'a good thing' because I can harvest lots of tiny ones as opposed to fewer, larger ones.

The only thing that I've done differently this year is to grow a different variety (Defender F1 as opposed to Verde di Italia and Parador F1).

Is this 'branching of the bush' due to this year's weather, the variety, or 'one of those things'?

It would be nice to know so it can be repeated next year.

It is funny, cos my Striata d'Italia has got 2 'sort of branches', this year.
I've been growing from the same pkt of seeds for 5 years now and they've never done it before :D

So yes, maybe the weather
