candleing eggs
« on: August 12, 2010, 23:04 »
hi, i have six turkey eggs in the incy and its day 12 so i decided to candle them but not really sure what i should be seeing at this stage? one of the eggs was all dark apart from the airsack but the shell is darker on this egg not sure if this effects it at all? one egg looked totally empty, a couple looked like i could see a shadow bout the size of the yolk and it moved around as i turned the egg on the other egg looked like it had a shadow which took up about half the egg! what should be normal at this stage?

Hi, I ahve only done this once, but I googled "candling eggs' and there are some really good sites with great pictures, there are also some shown on youtube where you can see the chicks moving.  It may be worth a try, as a picture paints a thousand words ( I think that's what they say - it is very late!)
