[Fat Hen]

I posted a couple of months ago about runner beans growing from previous yrs rootstock.  Well I've had a massive flush of early flowers, weeks ahead of new plants planted this year.

However not many beans developing so far!  Most have died off without producing beans.  Presently have about a dozen developing beans on the one plant I kept (this yrs plants have immature flowers still to open), reckon that would have had much more but for rotten weather keeping insects at bay.  

I've seen very little insect life in the garden so far, apart from early in season beas looking for somewhere to nest (have had some success here with a home made bea hotel), since then, weather awful, wet and strong winds (all my plants lean eastwards and i've a sheltered garden).

I've lost beans two years running to late frosts and this year thought I'd got it right. HA! The weather always has the last laugh.

I think I'll be lucky to get any runners this year.
