Le parfait jars not filled enough?
« on: July 25, 2010, 21:46 »
I made a lovely spiced courgette chutney today and have bottled it in 3 Le parfait 1/2 litre spring top pots. I now am not sure whether i've left too much of a gap in them. There was too much chutney for two pots but not really enough for three.... ::)
Does it matter leaving a bit of a gap in them, it should still be sterile shouldn't it?

If the jars were sterilised and the chutney hot it shouldn't matter.  But I would eat the more empty one first.
Cheese makes everything better.

Thanks Ice but all three jars have equal amounts in them! I'll just hope for the best then!!!

I'd tip them out and re-heat to a boil. Re-sterilise the jars and pack them so that they are full - you should get two full jars and the rest in the third jar - eat that one first!
