What CAN you grow ?
« on: July 12, 2010, 08:22 »
we have had what we cant grow, how about a what can we grow instead

Focus on the good

We can grow fabulous red cabbages, we dont do anything more than throw them in and water

We also last year grew the best butternut squash I have ever seen, lovely sized and the taste was obviously amazing

and lastly we are doing very well with Alpine strawberries

No pic of these

They must be the three best crops so far

not forgetting my spring onions

They all look wonderful  :)

What's the secret to growing good spring onions?  I always fail miserably.

So far just peas and tomatoes...
But hopefully lots more stuff next year. Very new to this. Gotta learn how to do it and time it all perfectly.

I love looking at all the pics on here of everyones crops...well done to you all, must be nice to see all your hard work pay off

Sprouts!!

I had some very complementary and envious comments last year which was great considering it was the first year I grew them  :)

I can also grow weeds with little or no effort at all!  ;)  :tongue2:

I was really pleased last year with my sturon onions that were very big. This year I got a really good crop of garlic where I had used seed garlic. I tried to plant a mix of seed garlic and supermarket stuff. They all appeared to do ok but when I lifted them the seed stuff was much bigger. I am keeping half a dozen bulbs to plant as seed garlic in October.
