compost and firewater
« on: July 05, 2010, 10:05 »
I am newly registered and have 2 questions, if someone would kindly advise.
- I recently took over a small allotment in very poor state. A friend said I should put those very long, tough roots into a dustbin of water to rot them and compost them after a few weeks, which I have done. Can I use the resultant very smelly firewater diluted any time and keep adding things like nettle leaves, or does this stuff have a limited usefulness?
- I want to make a sanctuary for bugs out of wood chips and old logs, to attract hedgehogs and such like to eat snails etc. Can I locate this pile immediately adjacent to my compost heap, or should it be somewhere else on the allotment.
thanks in advance
Chris

Hi Chris; I've moved your first question to a more appropriate part of the forum for people to view and possibly answer.

Don't let that stop you introducing yourself in the "Welcome" part of the forum!  ;)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!
